Break!

I am taking a break from the blog. I'm not quite sure if I can blog this week, given that it's that time of the year again and my daughter, A, has quarterly exams. But I will try!

Thanks! And I appreciate and covet your prayers for wisdom, patience and perseverance. For both A and me.

Day 37: Merry Christmas!

I had been raving about Delimondo on my social network accounts, so much so that a friend took notice. This friend happens to work for JAKA Group of Companies (I had promised my friend I will not mention nor tag my friend, so yes, "a friend") and sent me a gift basket of Delimondo deli stuff!

Merry Christmas from Delimondo! Hehehe.

This basket was packed with their two Corned Beef variants, three kinds of sausages (the Chicken Curry, Hungarian and Cheese, Schublig and Cheese), their Chili and Garlic drizzling oil, their Puttanesca pasta sauce, their Spicy Tinapa in Tomato Sauce and a jar of Bacalao ala Vizcaina!

I cannot wait to try them all! I will blog about my loot on the First Wives Club blog soon! Meanwhile, if you would like to check out Delimondo's other products (yes, beyond Corned Beef and Luncheon Meat!), check out their Facebook page: www.facebook.com/Delimondo

Delimondo's full deli line is available at:
PETRA & PILAR RESTAURANT
JAKA Center Building
Export Bank Drive cor. Chino Roces Ave.
Makati City

Merry Christmas, my friend! Thank you so much for this!

Day 36: Break In!

So we trooped to S&R's Members' Treat on Wednesday morning. I was coded that day, so naturally, when lunch came and went, and we were still in the store waiting for those two ladies to finish with their Gift Certificate transactions, I was a tad stressed and panicking.

But you know how it is when things go wrong, and Murphy's Law takes over - everything else goes wrong. What many of you don't know is when we got home, we found ourselves locked out of our house. Somehow, the security latch caught and we couldn't push the door open.

It was a big blessing that our neighbors were home. Doc A had taken the day off from work to rest from the previous night's surgery. I bet he didn't think he'd be performing surgery on my door! LOL! His brother-in-law, CL, was also home. A good thing, too, as he had a lot of tools in his workshop. It took roughly a loud, noisy and messy 30 minutes (maybe even more) to break the lock and get ourselves inside the house. Doc and CL tried all sorts to break the screws holding the latch to the door frame - screwdriver, saw, drill, hammer, etc. But it held on for so long - so much so that we all realized how hard it would be for anyone to break into our home. LOL!

Our ugly door frame after the "break-in".

I am thankful this happened during the day, and not at night. Imagine the ruckus! I am grateful to have caring neighbors who wouldn't think twice about extending a helping hand. As much as I am "Handy Mommy" to my kids, I wouldn't have been able to break that lock without their help.

Thank you, Doc and CL, for helping us break into our home! You are godsends.

Day 35: Delivery!

I had deliveries to make for NappyCakes. But I also had a ton of things up my sleeve. The S&R Sale was happening the next day, and I needed to go home and prepare for it. I was initially planning on going to Robinsons Galleria to deliver the NappyCake orders Tuesday evening after work. A quick MMDA App check revealed how traffic it was on EDSA, both Southbound and Northbound.

As I was about to leave the office, I thought to ask a colleague if he was passing by Galleria the next day. Our liaison does rounds of the stores throughout the week, and I thought maybe he could bring the cakes for me instead.

This isn't the cake I had delivered. I failed to take a photo. Oops.

And he said yes as he had Galleria on his itinerary the next day! Yay! That sure saved me a trip and allowed me to plan for Members' Treat.

GOD IS GOOD!

Day 34: Catching Fire!

Aside from sleep, another luxury for me is getting to read AND finish a book. What with my messed-up schedule, I hardly find the time, nor the energy, to read.

I started reading Catching Fire - the sequel to Hunger Games, over 2 months ago. I took the book to the salon and read through a few chapters while getting a color. However, since life took a turn towards stressful, I forgot about the book until I picked it up again recently to while away the hours at a party we had to attend.

Mixed reviews for the sequels to Hunger Games.
But I enjoyed Catching Fire and Mockingjay, mainly because I didn't expect much
after reading the reviews. ;) Looking forward to catching this on the big screen soon!

I finally (FINALLY!) got to read it through and finished it at 2 in the morning, Monday (last week). Yay! A book relaxes me. I would read a book everyday if I could. So thankful I got to finish one after so many months! As of this writing, I actually got to finish Mockingjay as well.

Read any good books lately?
